060716 Round Reed Baskets

Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Using colorful hand-dyed round reed gives a contemporary approach to basketry. The provided round base, hand-woven by the instructor will enable each student to immediately begin learning basic techniques, while making decisions about color and shape as work progresses. Each participant will be able to complete a small basket finished with a unique top edge.

Bette R. McCarron has been involved with weaving, basketry and surface design for more than thirty-five years as a member of the Philadelphia Guild of Hand Weavers (http://pghw.org). She has attended local and regional workshops and won several PGHW awards. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for the various fiber arts through classes for children and /or adults. A former Peace Corps worker in Grenada and certified Veterinary Technician, Bette's work combines influences from travel, animals and the fiber arts.
