NEW EVENT! Fresh Voices w/ Melissa Palmer

 202015 FreshVoicesMP

February 20th at 7:00PM

Come and join as Cape May County Library hosts author Melissa Palmer. Palmer will be offering an interactive reading from her book “Twin Oaks.” The book description is as follows: Twin Oaks is a self-contained community where it seems that skies are always blue, the grass is always green, flowers bloom prolifically, the houses exude charm and grace and the people are decent and always cordial. Yet appearances can be deceiving, for beneath exteriors lay the darker elements of personality: madness, envy, infidelity and spiritual vacuity.

Melissa Palmer was nominated for the Pushcart Prize for short fiction “Mrs. MacMillan’s Garden” which was the inspiration for Twin Oaks. She was nominated for the Eric Hoffer Prize for short fiction for her story “Blood”. But of all the honors she was most touched when the McStorytellers named her an honorary Scot for her story “At This Moment”. Her work has been featured by Best New Writing, The Quotable and The Writing Disorder among others. In her spare time she wrangles Newfoundlands, two precocious girls, and one very handsome cat with the help of the strong, silent drink of water with whom she shares her life. Melissa is also the author of A Life Less Normal, a memoir examining the life of a woman- child growing up in the shadow of mental illness with the support of her proverbial north Jersey crime family.
